Toyota has been granted permission for Kalle Rovanperä to replace Sébastien Ogier at this week’s WRC Rally Poland.
Ogier and co-driver Vincent Landais were involved in a road accident during recce on Tuesday morning. Both Ogier and Landais, as well as two occupants of the other vehicle involved in the collision, were taken to hospital for medical checks following the accident.
Toyota confirmed that all involved in the accident showed no serious injuries. Landais had been discharged from the hospital. However, Ogier will remain under medical observation in the hospital overnight.
The team confirmed that Ogier will not participate in this week’s Rally Poland in the statement released on Tuesday evening.
A request from the Toyota team to change Ogier’s entry for Kalle Rovanperä has been granted by the event’s Stewards. Rovanperä and co-driver Jonne Halttunen have been authorised to recce the stages with a different timetable compared to the other competitors.
Rovanperä and co-driver Halttunen arrived in Poland on Tuesday eveneing and will start their recce Wednesday morning.
